About the project

The Mastersingers of Nuremberg” by Richard Wagner – the most demanding undertaking of my life in Poznan as a Polish premiere. Scenically far away from the romance of the stove window, without a fake Nuremberg, but with the “girls from Fürth” and a lot of madness in Wagner’s world. No wonder, when the erudition of the work leads into a religion of art that conjures up its totalitarian spirits. Hans Sachs has to experience how beauty gets out of hand and the Ungeist takes its final place in this mystery play. An imaginative and unique collaboration with Matthias Engelmann. Anecdotes? Many!
